Designing with fluted & louvre panels

Few details change a room as quietly as a fluted wall. The material almost doesn't matter at first — what you notice is the rhythm, and the soft banding of shadow that shifts as you move past it.

Rhythm is the point

A louvre panel is really a repeating vertical line. That repetition gives the eye a cadence, makes a wall feel taller, and turns a flat plane into something tactile. Our Nine By One and Dizz Design ranges push that idea in two directions — one warm and restrained, one sculptural and bold.

Let light do the work

Fluting lives on grazing light. Place a panel where a lamp or window rakes across it and the profile comes alive; light it flat-on and much of the effect flattens out. Plan the lighting and the panel together, not one after the other.

Design the shadow, and the panel designs itself.

Where they belong

Reception walls, headboards, TV units, ceilings and partition screens are natural homes for louvre panels. In hospitality and retail, a full wall of Dizz Design can carry an entire scheme; at home, a single feature wall is usually enough.

A note on proportion

Match the profile depth to the room. Deep, sculptural profiles reward large, double-height spaces; finer flutes suit intimate rooms where a heavy profile would overwhelm. When in doubt, sample at full height before committing.
